A Long Overdue Update: From Crowning Moments to Countdown Time!
Hi everyone!
It’s been way too long since I’ve shared a full update here — and with so much happening between March and now, I wanted to take a moment to catch up, reflect, and let you know everything that’s been going on!
Back in March, I was officially awarded the title of Miss Indianapolis 2025, and what an exciting, whirlwind experience it has been ever since! Being named Miss Indianapolis was truly a dream come true, and everything has moved so quickly — but every single moment has been filled with so much joy, growth, and gratitude.
Since then, I’ve hit the ground running with a full schedule of community appearances, service projects, and preparation for Miss Indiana for America Strong coming up in just a few short days!
Some highlights from the past couple of months include:
- Attending the MS Walk at White River State Park, where I was able to cheer on participants, meet inspiring families, and help raise awareness for an invisible illness that affects so many.
- Judging the Sunburst Safari Indy Preliminary, which was such a full-circle moment for me after competing in Sunburst as a child. Getting to crown the next generation and encourage young contestants was truly special!
- Attending the Cruise In for Autism event at Scratch House Kitchen & Catering, where I loved seeing the community come together for autism awareness, enjoying great food, and checking out some amazing cars and bikes.
- Handing out goodies and celebrating inclusion at the Best Buddies Friendship Walk, where I also ran into the new Miss Indiana USA and Miss Indiana Teen USA!
- Completing a hands-on CPR, AED, and First Aid recertification course alongside pediatric nurses and a doctor at Southside Pediatrics — one of the first places where I donated my children’s book!
- Taking part in the Easter Egg Hunt at Ellenberger Park, where I had so much fun interacting with kids and families (even when the weather didn’t totally cooperate!). I can’t wait to be back at the park this summer for even more events.
- Attending the Miss Indiana for America Strong Workshop, where we worked on mock interviews, walking, and had the chance to bond with other incredible contestants. It made me even more excited (and ready!) for competition week.
Alongside these events, I’ve been deep into preparation mode: mock interviews, walking practice, workouts, mental wellness check-ins, wardrobe fittings, and everything in between. It’s been a lot — but it’s also been some of the most fulfilling work I’ve ever done.
Another huge highlight is coming up: I’ll be throwing the first pitch at the Indianapolis Indians game on May 6! As a lifelong Indians fan, this is an absolute dream come true, and I can’t think of a better way to kick off competition week.
I’m also incredibly grateful to the amazing small businesses and friends who have supported me on this journey, including George Thomas Florist, JMikeal Studios, 1822.Studios, JewelrybyJully, QuinnyDoesCosmo, and so many more. Your belief in me has truly helped make this experience even more memorable.
This season — from March until now — has been a whirlwind in the best way possible. Everything has moved so quickly, but I’ve loved every second of it. Every handshake, every child’s smile, every moment spent advocating for inclusion reminds me that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
Thank you for continuing to follow my journey, for supporting Live Without Limits, and for believing in the work we’re doing together. Stay tuned — Miss Indiana for America Strong is just days away, and I can’t wait to step onto that stage with a full heart, representing Indianapolis and everyone who believes that no diagnosis should ever define a person’s potential.
The best is truly yet to come!
With love and gratitude,
Kaitlin Dunn
